A message from Mikaela
I created More to Explore to share my love of Slovenia’s mountains, forests, rivers and lakes and to bring people and cultures together on adventures that stretch beyond the time you are here exploring with me.
Inviting enduring connections, joyfulness and slow travel, More to Explore is a shared ethos that grows and evolves alongside each journey into Slovenia’s wild places.
About me
-
After many years exploring Slovenia, hiking, snowshoeing, swimming, cycling and climbing, we moved with our young family from our home in Wales to a small dispersed settlement in Idrija Geopark, Slovenia, in 2021.
Being closer to my partner’s family here in Slovenia was important to us as our family grew, and we knew that a life here would be enhanced by the incredible surroundings and people of our home regions.
I bring decades of experience in the outdoor sector to my small family-run business More to Explore.
As an expedition leader, I trained and interviewed prospective leaders and designed and co-ordinated complex outdoor learning programmes, and having worked with groups around the world for 20 years, you can feel confident that More to Explore is built on carefully crafted foundations.
Each trip is made with love by me, and I am committed to every single experience shared with More to Explore.

More To Explore is built on the belief that in order for individuals to want to protect our natural environment, we must share meaningful and memorable experiences within it.
I believe in the power of playful adventure, where we encourage fun and connected experiences in nature together. All of my groups are supportive and welcoming and I aim to create inclusive environments where we can all thrive.
